Each run group builds on the skills of the previous level. Review the expectations for your group before arriving at the track.
Foundational Novice Skills and Knowledge
On-Track Etiquette / Rules
- ●Where and how to grid
- ●Observes blend line
- ●Acknowledges corner station workers during warm-up/cool down laps
- ●How to safely exit the track
- ●Uses warmup/cooldown laps appropriately
- ●Meaning of each flag and what to do when presented with each
- ●How to safely give a point-by/take a pass
- ●What/how to drive when going off track
- ●Self-report after two tires off track, or a loss of control
- ●Rejoin where, when, and how it is safe and predictable to do so
- ●Remain in vehicle while on track unless there is a fire
- ●Helmet remains on from driving to grid, to parked after session
- ●If having a mechanical, get off track
- ●No passengers in Beginner Group
- ●No visible lap timers in Beginner Group
Awareness
- ●Where each flag station is, and obey flag station workers at all times
Passing
- ●Execute consistently safe pass(es) when given a point-by in approved areas
- ●Give consistently clear point-by(s) in approved areas only
